We have more than proven that the GB Mfrs FFX/TDI 48µm LDA is more than adequate to replacing film than any Computed Radiography, better known as CR could ever provide. CR has issues with resolution as well as damaging the CR Plates in the harsh environment of a Plate or Pipe Manufacturing Plant. We have all three of our GBPIS Systems installed and working as a full replacement of all film applications.
We have over 20 years' experience with our GB/TDI Detectors. We have proven that our detectors will last over 12 to 14 Years in a 320kV application. There are other TDI/LDA Manufacturers that have sold similar TDI Detectors into the market. The issue with these TDI Detectors is that the detectors can't last over a year if the kV ranges are over 160kV. Our TDI has proven that it can last over 12 years before the raqdiation degradation starts to affect the resolution and electronics due to its special design.
The GB Manufacturers FFX/TDI 48µm Detector scans welds continually at up to 50mm/second at 48µm/pixel. It does require a specific type mechanics to maintain full resolution f the detector. The Detector readout is linked to a specific scan speed that is adjusted for each technique. The detector works well with CP/high frequency X-ray sources such as Gulmay CF320 or any comparable x-ray system. The digital images are stored to a local or network hard drive for safe storage and protection.
This TDI Inspection System for Circumferential Weld Inspections is a FIRST OF ITS KIND. The system is designed to insert any length pipe in through the center of the system with a diameter from 24" up to 60". The Directional 300kV Portable Tube is mounted on a specialized rotational mechanism that tracks the radiation while rotating around the circ weld. This allows us to bring the tube close to the weld for a short FFD, which drastically aids the image acquisition time. The TDI Detector is lowered down onto the pipes outer wall and is rotated by a stepper motor. The X-Ray Tubes port and the detector head are synchronized to track around the circ weld in unison. The end result is a full length x-ray image of the entire weld with sub 2% sensitivity.

This TDI Inspection System for Long Seam/ Spiral Weld Inspections has been in use since 2003. The system is designed to inspect the last 12" up to 15" of each end of a 40ft long pipe. Once the pipe is in place, the main carriages at each end of the pipe are automatically inserted placing the x-ray tube and detector around the pipe for inspection. The separate axes holding the imaging equipment is retracted at a precise and steady speed, capturing the images for each end of the pipe. The images are displayed as they are created, allowing the operator to make DISPOSTION of the weld instantaneously with sub 2% sensitivity.
This instantaneous image has proven to be a game changer since waiting for film has its pitfalls. No more moving pipe after it has been passed down the line and then reworked and cycled back through x-ray.

This TDI Inspection System for Flat Plate Weld Inspections is designed to inspect up to 26ft of weld on a single plate of steel iron or stainless. Once the plate is in place, the imaging carriage holding the tube above the plate and the detector below the plate automatically starts to scan the weld. The cabling is carried along a large cable trolley system to keep all cables free from damage. The images are displayed as they are created, allowing the operator to make DISPOSTION of the weld instantaneously with sub 2% sensitivity.

This Inspection System utilizes an Image Intensifier with a high resolution, high frame count digital camera to inspect steel Hydrogen Tanks up to 12ft long and a diameter from 12" up to 30" in diameter. The two doors on each side of the cabinet retract into the floor when opened. This prevents a guillotine effect as the doors go down if a failure or E-STOP occurs.
The tanks enter the x-ray vault from one side and exit the vault on the other side to continue down the production line. Once the tank is in place, the imaging carriage holding the tube and the detector automatically starts to scan the weld. Both the longitudinal and circumferential welds of each tank can be inspected with the X, Y, Z1 and Z2 axes movement. The cabling is carried along a large cable aero-track like system to keep all cables free from damage. The images are displayed on the monitor as the detector and tube run along the weld, allowing the operator to make DISPOSTION of the weld.
The GBTIS-225II/ TANK WELD INSPECTION SYSTEM is more than capable of keeping up with the production line within the 2% to 2.5% range.
This system was a customized system that was designed and manufactured solely for inspecting large Hydrogen Tanks that are to be mounted on top of large buses for using hydrogen as an ALT Fuel.
